Know what the car will cost before you visit the dealer.
The plan: you paste a listing URL and add your own details, such as where you’ll register the car and how you’ll pay. You get an independent, itemized out-the-door estimate before you set foot in the dealership. Anything we can’t establish stays open. It is never counted as zero, and there is no total until every line is known.
Listing estimates are planned and not available yet. Price and turnaround are to be announced.
Example estimate
Fictional example · New Jersey purchase · Not a real customer, dealer or result
A listing from Example Motors, plus the buyer’s own details: a financed new car registered in New Jersey, with the fee figures from the dealer’s quote entered as given.

| 03 | Appearance protection package | $895.00 | Details: Appearance protection packageShown on the quote Taken from the dealer’s quote as written. A dealer add-on. Ask whether the appearance protection package is optional and request a worksheet without it. |
| 04 | New Jersey sales tax | $2,642.98 | Details: New Jersey sales taxCalculated tax 6.625% of lines 01 to 03 ($39,894.00), the statewide rate. Matches the dealer’s quote. |

Neither is a confirmed tags amount, so we don’t add them up or count either as zero. |
Out-the-door total
Not shown
Tags and registration aren’t known yet, so there is no total. The dealer’s quote prints a bottom line of $42,621.98. The quote does not establish whether registration and plates are fully included, so that figure is not a confirmed complete out-the-door price.
Questions to send the dealer yourself
